Highest ever disposal of cases registered in Reasi

REASI, Jan 6: During the year 2021, Reasi Police registered 915 cases in the district and completed investigations in 1074 cases thus producing chargesheets in the respective courts of law while seven cases of murder, 14 attempts to murder, 76 cases under NDPS Act, 17 cases of rape and 29 cases of kidnapping were concluded on merit in the year.
These details were shared by SSP Reasi, Shailender Singh, who said that this was highest ever disposal of cases in number as well as percentage achieved by Reasi Police since the formation of the district.
“This was possible due to coordinated efforts of Reasi Police in which special teams were constituted to clear all the hiccups and collected pending 210 FSL Reports, 73 medical reports and 40 Revenue reports which were prerequisite to conclude the investigations,” he said.
Shailender further asserted that 71 petition got dismissed whereas bail applications in 23 cases got rejected. The disposal of courts during the year has been more than sum of disposal of preceding four years that could be possible by conducting two to three review meetings in a week, he added.
Similar efforts were put in Inquest proceedings out of which six have resulted into lodging of FIRs of murder.
The SSP informed that in the year 2021, Reasi Police launched special drive against drug abuse under the banner “Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh” and registered 203 case FIRs and booked 247 criminals involved in dirty business of drug abuse.
“Reasi Police apprehended 123 absconding criminals who were evading arrests since years. 181 General Warrants of Arrests have been executed in a span of 9 months which is a record of sort, not only in the district or J&K but perhaps highest in the country,” said the SSP.
Further, 138 bovines smugglers were booked by the teams of Reasi Police while rescuing 604 cattle from their possession and registered 85 case FIRs in this regards and seized 24 vehicles involved in the crime thus playing a vital role in maintaining communal harmony in the area. Tightening noose against the criminals Reasi Police also recommended cancellation of nine gun licences issued to the history sheeters.
