SRINAGAR, July 13: Highest number of 61 Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) residents arrived here to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition while only two Kashmiris crossed to the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) today.
Official sources said that 13 returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector.
They said 61 residents of PoK, including 24 women and 14 children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot. They will be celebrating the Eid festival with their relatives here.
Earlier, highest number of guests in 2015 were 44 who arrived here on May 4, 2015. With this, the total number of Pak guests who visited since January this year was 758. Only one Kashmiri, who had gone to PoK returned to his home in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad. Sources said only two Kashmiri women crossed over to PoK to meet their relatives, separated during partition. With this a total of 128 Kashmiris had crossed over to other side this year. They said 12 PoK residents, including three women and a child, who had arrived here in previous buses returned to their homes after completing their stay in Kashmir.
