High-Level Committee visits interconnected water bodies in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 17: A high-level team comprising Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Vice-Chairman LAWDA, Joint Commissioner Works SMC and Superintending Engineer Irrigation & Flood Control made a follow-up visit with President NLCO Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo to the interconnected water bodies of Pokhribal-Nallah Ameer Khan-Gilsar-Khushalsar.
The visit was a part of the administration’s initiative to restore and revive the natural resources to their pristine glory.
The team took an extensive tour of the water bodies via Shikara starting from Nigeen – Polhribal-via Nallah Ameer khan and then ultimately to Gilsar Khushalsar, where many important standing instructions like removal of unwanted weeds, lily pads & improving aesthetic were passed.
During their visit, different delegations of the respective areas met the committee members, who assured all possible help concerning their issues related to these water bodies.
President NLCO presented a memorandum to the committee at Gilkadal in which some important issues like continuous upkeep, dredging, demarcation, the connection of drains to STP/ sewerage and introduction of water sports were highlighted for a sustained outcome.
