JAMMU, Nov 4: Direct-orate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Jammu intercepted a vehicle and recovered about 1087.5 g of heroin worth more than Rs 5 crore in international market.
According to DRI sources, on the basis of specific inputs, an Indigo car of Haryana travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu was intercepted on November 2 at Toll Plaza Ban (Nagrota), J&K. On rummaging of the said car, it was found that the smugglers had created a special cavity for concealing the contraband and 11 packets of high quality heroin were found concealed in the cavity.
The sources added that two persons were arrested while the narcotic consignment was seized by the authorities along with the car used for transportation and concealment of the narcotic. It is gathered that the consignment originated from Kashmir and was meant for sale in Punjab.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
