KISHTWAR, Mar 6: Police seized heroin weighting 1.100 kilograms valuing several crores in international market and arrested two persons.
SSP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas said that on specific information, police team from Kishtwar police station laid a naka at Giri Nagar on Kishtwar-Chatroo Road and intercepted two pedestrians moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 1.100 kilograms of heroin valuing several crores in the international market and arrested both the persons, he added.
SSP disclosed that the accused have been identified as Mudassar Hussain, son of Ghulam Nabi Sabuni of Nali Bounjwa and Fida Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain Hajam of Shanpura Chingam, Chatroo.
Both the persons were on their way to Kishtwar and then to Jammu to sell the narcotics, but their designs were thwarted by Kishtwar police, he stated.
SSP maintained that a case under FIR number 29/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Kishtwar and investigation started to find out the smuggling module.
Police team led by PSI Deepak Barti and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jillani made the arrest under the supervision of Abdul Qayoom, Additional SP Kishtwar and SSP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas.
