Heroin, poppy straw seized; 3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, May 12: Continuing its drive against the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Police today seized seven grams of Chitta (Heroin) and five kg of poppy straw from smugglers at Udhampur in two different cases.
In both the cases, the accused were apprehended during naka checking at Jakhani. Giving details, SSP Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani, National Highway, Udhampur.
During naka checking, police party apprehended two suspected person and during their personal search, seven grams of Heroin was recovered from the accused namely Ujwal Sharma son of Naresh Kumar of Housing Colony and Vikram Kumar son of Surjit Kumar of Shiv Nagar, Udhampur.
Police seized the recovered Heroin and arrested both the accused. In this connection, a case FIR number 218/2019 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur.
In another success, the same police party apprehended one Kameshwar Singh, son of Jawahar Singh of Dandyal Udhampur, who was carrying five kg of poppy straw. Police arrested the accused and seized the poppy straw.
In this connection, case FIR number 219/19 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
