LOS ANGELES, Apr 15: Prime Video series “Young Sherlock” featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin has been renewed for the second season.
The news comes following the release of the first season on March 4 and as a result of the strong viewership of the series, according to the entertainment news outlet Variety.
The first season was directed by Guy Ritchie and revolved around a 19-year-old, defiant Sherlock Holmes (Tiffin) who is framed for murder and a stolen artefact case.
It also starred Donal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone and Ravi Aujla in pivotal roles.
The second season will have Ritchie as a director of the first episode with Tiffin set to reprise his role.
“‘Young Sherlock’ has that rare magic-millions of fans around the world aren’t just watching a detective story, they’re falling in love with the origin of an icon,” Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement.
“Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill have cracked the code on making Sherlock’s early years feel fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive, and have introduced a compelling take on James Moriarty that sets the stage for what’s to come. We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season Two,” he added.
Ritchie also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, Harriet Creelman, and co-executive producers Steve Thompson and James Dormer. (PTI)
