This has reference to the news item ‘Govt pensioners can track status via SMS, online ‘DE Sept 5.
The web portal launched by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will go a long way in addressing the issues faced by the pensioners, as is claimed by the Minister. It is a step in right direction. The pensioners in the country, particularly in J&K is a harassed lot. In are maltreated at banks, treasuries, and other related departments. The J&K it has been seen that they wait in long queues for their turn to settle cases. This is not the way our senior citizens are treated.
During verification process, they are harassed a lot. One can hardly hold the sight they present at that time. The pensioners who do not have any helping hand with them feel jittery in such a situation.
Every effort should be made to streamline the process of receiving pensionery benefits. This is the way we can serve our senior citizens at the fag end of their lives.
