JAMMU, June 25: Pakistan Army today twice resorted to heavy firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector in the day-light with a plot to push a group of four to five militants into this side. However, troops foiled the intrusion bid after giving affective retaliation to Pakistani firing.
“However, there were no casualties or damage on Indian side in firing by the Pakistani troops,” official sources said.
They said Pakistani troops started heavy firing on forward Indian posts of Durga and Tara in Digwar sub sector of Poonch district 3.15 pm today when dark clouds were hovering over the sky and it had become quite a dark in the area.
Taking advantage of adverse weather conditions, Pakistan Army opened firing on forward Indian posts and subsequently tried to push a group of four to five militants into the Indian territory.
However, the Indian side retaliated to neutralize the militants and ensure that they didn’t manage to sneak into this side. The infiltration attempt was foiled, sources said.
At about 5.20 pm, Pakistan Army again started firing on the Indian posts when it was further getting dark. Again, troops fired back and kept strong surveillance all along the LoC to keep the militants away from the LoC, sources said.
Earlier this month, a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed when Pakistan Army had opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and rockets on Indian posts along the LoC in Sabjian Mandi sub sector of Poonch district.
Pakistani troops had also opened indiscriminate firing in the Poonch sector in which a civilian was injured after an infiltration bid was foiled by Indian troops. They had opened small arms firing on Indian posts in Nangi Tekri forward area along LoC in Krishna Ghati.
Last month, Pakistani troops had pounded Indian posts along LoC in the Poonch sector with rockets.
