Health employees suspend strike, routine work to resume today

JAMMU, June 20: The health employees of various cadre who were on strike since June 8 under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees’ Federation (JKMEF) to support the demands of Female Multipurpose Health Workers suspended their strike this evening after the assurance of Health Minister, Bali Bhagat.
According to the reports, a meeting between representatives of JKMEF, Female Multipurpose Health Workers’ Association and Pharmacist Association was held this evening with Minister for Health and Medical education, Bali Bhagat at Super Speciality Hospital (SSH), Jammu.

In the 2-hour long meeting, wherein MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma, general secretary, J&K BJP, Pawan Khajuria, Director, Health Services Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh, Assistant Director, Family Welfare, Jammu, Dr Gurmeet Kour and Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, were also present, detailed discussions held on non-payment of about one and a half year’ salary to FMPHWs and need of permanent feature of pay dues in the department.
On the written assurance of the Minister that pending salary of FMPHWs will be released in a short span of time and a permanent solution of Salary Head 2211 will be find out within one month, as concrete steps is being taken to solve the issue, JKMEF and its affiliated association suspended their strike this evening.
Earlier intensifying their strike, a large number of FMPHWs this morning staged dharna in front of the residence of MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma, at Rehari Colony and raised slogans against the Government and authorities of Health Department for ignoring their just and genuine demands.
