Health Deptt organises programme for PRIs

Doda, Mar 12: One day orientation programme cum workshop for PRIs regarding communicable disease under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) was held today at Town Hall Doda.
Vice Chairman DDC Doda Sangeet Bhagat was the chief guest while DG Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization & Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman was the guest of honor whereas SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, ADDC Doda Pran Singh, CMO Doda Dr M Y Mir, Chairman MC Bhaderwah Dr Shahid Mughal, Dy CMO Doda Dr Rakesh Bhagat, MS AH GMC Doda Dr Yudhvir Singh, DIO Dr Varsha Sharma, District Information Officer Doda, besides DDC Members, Chairperson BDCs, Sarpanches, officers from Health Department and prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
CMO Doda Dr M Y Mir, in his inaugural speech, welcomed all the guests and presented over view of the workshop. He said that the main aim of the training programme is to highlight the role of PRIs at Panchayat level in curbing the outbreak of communicable diseases. He added that PRIs play an important role in water surveillance by having close coordination with the IDSP unit for ascertaining the waterborne, food borne diseases etc and also help the health department in implementing the IHIP at grass-root level.
During the programme, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Doda Dr Mayan ud Din, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Doda Tariq Ahmed Butt & Epidemiologist Umar Anayat Khan were the guest speakers on the occasion who made PRIs aware regarding the IDSP scheme and various aspects of it. They defined the role of IDSP and gave awareness regarding water borne disease, food borne diseases, common zoonotic diseases, and outbreak investigation through PPT.
The IEC material regarding various dieases and health schemes was also distributed among the participants to make them aware of communicable disease and other major health schemes of the health department.
DG Family Welfare J&K and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman lauded the efforts of District Health Society Doda for organizing such a mega awareness programme for PRIs and hoped that it will prove beneficial for all in terms of implementation of IDSP scheme at grassroots level. While highlighting the achievements of health department, Dr Rehman said that the department is aiming to implement all major schemes of health department so that actual benefit can be given to the beneficiaries besides exhorted upon all the health officers and official to make cordial relation with PRIs in implementing the schemes at grassroot level in order to provide better health care facility to the patients at their door steps.
