JAMMU, Oct 10: National Panthers Party (NPP) MLA and leader of Panthers Legislature Party, Harshdev Singh has lambasted the Health Department for opening more and more Health Centres in cities and towns without requirement for the same.
He alleged that these Centres are being opened by the Department merely to accommodate the spouses and relatives of Ministers and Bureaucrats. He regretted that no criteria have been evolved by the Government for establishment of Health Centres, PHCs and other such institutions in the State due to which the remote and far flung areas of the State are suffering.
Singh, who was speaking yesterday in the Legislative Assembly during discussion on working of Health Department, further deplored that even the already existing Centres in rural areas were facing chronic staff deficiency.
