Health always priority for J & K govt: CM

SRINAGAR :  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said upgradation of medicare facilities and modernisation of government health institutions particularly in rural areas has remained focused area in the policy planning of the government.
He said health sector has been flagged as one of the most important sectors, as such, received concentrated attention for improvement, expansion and consolidation during the last over five and a half years.
The Chief Minister was speaking aftr inaugurating a Rs 3 crore CT scan and other modern facilities at Baramulla District Hospital.
The Chief Minister said that CT scans have been also provided for Handwara, Kulgam and Anantnag Hospitals to ensure modern health care facilities to the people.    He said this initiative will help to reduce unnecessary referrals to tertiary hospitals and save the precious time to diagnose the ailment and provide prompt treatment.    Mr Abdullah said there is a proposal to provide CT scans to all district and other important hospitals where this facility is not presently available.    He said the government has also provided latest equipments like Laparoscope, Cardiograph Machine and Doppler in various hospitals so that people can avail the best health facilities in the government hospitals.    He said Primary Health Centres and District Hospitals are being upgraded and improved with modern health care facilities so that people get latest medicare at their  doorsteps.
