HDF employees protest, seek regularization

Srinagar May 31: The HDF employees working across J&K in various hospitals today protested here, seeking regularization of their services as well as the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act.
Several such workers appeared in Partap Park, Press Enclave and were raising slogans in favor of their demands while criticizing the administration for making them suffer despite making huge sacrifices during the COVID pandemic.
“We were tagged as COVID warriors, but today we are suffering on all fronts as we are being paid peanuts in the name of salary which is also released after several months,” Bashir Ahmad, one of the employees said.
He said that they should be brought under the Minimum Wages Act without any further delay. “We have suffered due to COVID while as the higher officials looked on and despite that, we are being made to run from pillar to post get our issues resolved, but all seem to be in vain,” the protesting employees said.
The protestors said that despite working as regular employees, they are getting Rs 1500-2000 as salary and that too after gaps of several months.
“I am working under the HDF for the last 14 years and what I get despite discharging duties at par with other regular employees, are just peanuts; at times we do not have a penny in our pockets,” another protestor, Mahjabeena Akhtar said.
The protestor demanded regularization of their services without any further delay, implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and that their salaries should be released from the Finance Department.
