HC’s directive to CE PWD

JAMMU, June 9: In the contempt petition filed by a contractor, High Court today directed the Chief Engineer PWD to release money of the petitioner failing which his salary would be stopped.
After hearing Advocate S S Ahmed appearing for the petitioner whereas AAG Rakesh Khajuria appearing for the respondents, Justice Tashi Rabstan observed, “Mohd Abdullah, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), Division-I, has stated that a cheque of Rs 28,09,800 out of the total amount Rs 50,98,761 is lying with him. He is directed to deposit the cheque before the Registry. On deposition, Registry shall release the same in favour of petitioner after proper verification and identification”.
However, Mohd Abdullah assured the court that the remaining amount in the shape of cheque will positively be deposited in the Registry within a period of two weeks from today. Upon this, High Court directed that he may do so, failing which salary of Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) will be stopped till further orders.
