HC summons Sports Minister

SRINAGAR, Sept 2:  Jammu and Kashmir High Court today summoned Minister for Youth Services and Sports Imran Raza Ansari and others in a case filed by former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah over the recent dispute on the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
Justice B L Bhat issued notice to Chief Secretary of the State, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Director General Youth Services and Sports Srinagar, Director General of Police, SSP Srinagar, SHO Ram Munshi Bagh for filing their objection to the petition of Abdullah within a period of one week.
It is submitted in the petition that Sports Minister in colorable exercise and abuse of power and official position has frozen the  bank accounts of the Association which are being operated by petitioner Association resulting into disablement of its cricketing and other activities thereto.
Petitioner further says that the Association in this regard had reported the matter to CS about the unlawful and illegal activities of respondents and sought action against them but no action was taken against them in view of the manifest influence and misuse of power by the Minister.
Petitioner Association seeks direction from the court that respondents be refrained from indulging and involving in the activities of petitioner Association. Other relief which the petitioner Association seeks from the court is that the respondents more particularly DGP, SSP and SHO be commanded to refrain from extending any kind of official support or help to Minister and his associates with regard to the affairs of petitioner Association and its activities.
Petitioner further seeks  appropriate action against Divisional Commissioner and Director Youth Services and Sports by Chief Secretary for wanton disregard of rules of duty committed on July 20 while participating in the so-called meeting convened by Rakesh Kumar.
