HC seeks Govt response on Coaching Centers

Srinagar, Mar 6: High Court today directed the authorities to respond to the objections made by the petitioner with regard to running of coaching centers in the State as also report with regard to recommendation made by the Judges Committee on the issue.
Hearing the PIL on illegal and unregistered Private Tuition Centers across the State, the Division Bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Sanjeev Kumar directed the Commissioner Secretary Education Department to submit his report to the compilation made by the petitioner counsel with regard to teacher student ratio in the tuition centers as also the fee structure fixed.
The petition was filed in the year 2016 for closing down all the illegal and unregistered private tuition centers in the valley and thereafter the scope of the PIL was extended to across the State and subsequently the Court formed a high level panel asking it to close down all the unregistered coaching centers.  Later directions were issued for Jammu division also.
The court has been informed that despite repeated directions the authorities have passed various orders which do not meet with the directions of the court passed from time to time and certain issues like student-teachers ratio in the coaching centers has not been addressed in tune with court orders.
Court has also been informed that no fee structure in these tuition centers has been fixed and these centers are fixing the fee at their own will and choice. He submitted before the court that he has submitted the full compilation in this regard and submitted before the court already and no response till date has been filed by the authorities.
