HC seeks GB report on SKIMS Director’s fate

Srinagar, Oct 10: High Court has sought outcome of meeting held by the Governing Body with regard to fate of former Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences within week’s time.
The Government has accepted the enquiry conducted into the case of former Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) and the same was submitted before the Governing Body of SKIMS for its final decision.
Today when the case was taken up for its further consideration, the state counsel informed the court that the meeting was held on October 5 by the Governing Body on the issue but the outcome of the meeting is not known. “Let the instruction be reported from the Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department by or before the next date. List on October 16”, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey directed.
The Court it may be mentioned had directed the Chief Secretary of the State to place the matter before the Governing Body for its decision as the enquiry conducted in the case has been completed and accepted by the competent authority.
The Governing body of SKIMS is the appointing authority for the post of Director. The court was hearing the plea filed by the then director SKIMS Dr A G Ahanger against his ouster from the post of Director after sting operation against the some doctors of SKIMS divulging their involvement in private practice.
Court on thoughtful consideration and keeping in view of the anxiety of the petitioner Ahanger deemed it appropriate to grant week’s time to Governing Body to place the decision taken in the meeting held on October 5.
