Srinagar, Sept 11: High Court today issued notice to Defence Ministry with regard to the issue of installation of fire fighters in Valley’s sole children hospital in Cantonment area of Srinagar.
Hearing an application seeking installation of proper and full fledged and emergency services wing in the vicinity of the hospital in order to put the life of neonates and infants on extreme safety, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice D S Thakur said the hospital is joint venture of State Government and Union of India as such Ministry of Defence is necessary party as such arrayed as party respondent to the application for filing of response on the issue.
The application also seeks enquiry into the mysterious fire which broke out at the entrance of the hospital in the month of January 2018.
“The enhancement and augmentation of main entry point which has been narrowed down due to the encroachment is imperative so that the fire tenders, ambulances and other vehicles could move easily in and out from the hospital”, application reads.
