JAMMU, June 1: High Court has issued bailable warrants against Commissioner/ Secretary to Government Forest Department to the tune of Rs 10,000 to be executed by SSP Srinagar through SHO of the concerned Police Station.
The warrants have been issued in a contempt petition filed by Gh Hassan and others who are daily rated workers in Forest Department and seeking implementation of direction whereby respondents were asked to consider the cases of the petitioners for regularization in terms of SRO 64 of 1994 and pass appropriate orders within four weeks.
After hearing Advocate Sudershan Sharma appearing for the applicants whereas Government Advocate Ayjaz Lone for the State, Justice Sanjeev Kumar observed, “neither the order dated April 8, 2019 has been complied nor Commissioner/Secretary Forest Department is present in person”.
Accordingly, High Court issued bailable warrants against Commissioner/Secretary Forest Department to the tune of Rs 10,000 to be executed by SSP Srinagar through SHO of concerned Police Station.
On April 8, 2019, High Court had observed that the respondents, in their compliance report, have not denied the claim of the petitioners for regularization but have submitted that the case has been taken up with the Finance Department and as and when the approval is received formal orders of regularization shall be issued.
“It is the responsibility of respondents to take up the matter with the Finance Department or some other department as may be required so that the judgment passed by this court is complied with in letter and spirit”, Justice Sanjeev Kumar had mentioned in the last order.
