SRINAGAR, Aug 23: High Court today imposed a fine of Rs 30, 000 on Commissioner Secretary Technical Education and Youth Services for disobeying its order in which the Government was directed to consider the appointment of some candidates as Physical Education Teachers.
Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur passed the judgment on a petition filed by 12 candidates who were dropped from the selection list in 2011.
Justice Thakur asked the Commissioner Secretary to pay the amount personally to the court within 10 days for disobeying the order and not submitting the compliance report.
The court directed the Commissioner Secretary to comply with the judgment “in letter and spirit” and incase of non-compliance and costs not deposited before the court, he shall remain present personally on September 9 this year. “If he does not remain present non-bailable warrant will be issued against him,” Justice Thakur said.
