JAMMU, Sept 20: In a petition filed by Dr Rehmatullah, vice president ruling National Conference Doda seeking investigation from Vigilance Organization or Crime Branch into the allegations of misappropriation Rs 94,56,493 in Doda Municipality, High Court today granted two months time to Investigating Officer (IO) for completion of investigation and file status report.
The direction was passed by Justice Virender Singh after hearing Advocate SS Ahmed appearing for the petitioner.
According to the status report filed by DySP Headquarters Doda, irregularities/bungling have been committed by the concerned officers/officials of Municipal Committee Doda in discharge of their official functions causing a huge loss to the State exchequer.
“The matter is being probed into a fair, transparent and professional manner and every effort is being made to cogently connect all the culprits with the alleged crime. However, keeping in view the nature of the offences and the magnitude of the fraud committed, some more time is required to take investigation to its logical conclusion”, the status report said.
