JAMMU, Sept 20: Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar organized ‘Hindi Pakhwada’, a fortnight carnival of Hindi literary activities.
During the inaugural ceremony, Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Jammu University was the chief guest whereas Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal GCW, Gandhi Nagar was the presiding officer.
Prof Neelam Saraf, stressed for maximum use of Hindi in day- today affairs. She termed it as a language of our emotions, sentiments and belongingness to a nation.
Dr Kiran Bakshi in her address admired the initiative of the Hindi Department of the college to promote this language.
A recitation competition was held which was judged by Prof Shabnam Suri, Prof Renu Sehgal and Prof Vandana Sharma.
The 1st prize was bagged by Ayushi, 2nd by Mehnaz and 3rd by Sonia. Students also gave the scintillating performance by performing a mock humorous play entitled ‘Bhola Ram Ka Jive’ based on the short story of Harishanker Parsai.
