SRINAGAR, Apr 18: To uphold the sanctity of the courts, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey today directed the State counsel to apprise the Director General of Police that any police officer shall be in proper uniform while appearing before the court in respect of any case.
The direction has been passed in a case in which court had directed the Crime Branch Police for bringing the case diary of the case and one police official in this connection appeared before the court without uniform.
Appearing counsel for the petitioner in the case at the very outset sought adjournment of the case, however, invited the attention of the court towards the casual approach adopted by the police official, who was not in a proper dress.
“Mr. Shuja, State counsel shall apprise the DGP, J&K about the issuance of a circular in general that henceforth whenever any police officer or any official shall have to appear before the court in respect of any case shall be in proper uniform”, directed Justice Magrey.
Court while warning the police officer asked him to remain cautious in future
