JAMMU, Dec 20: High Court today directed National Insurance Company to pay Rs 8,56,000 compensation to the claimant.
The direction was passed by Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar while disposing of an appeal filed by 84 years old person Karnail Singh seeking compensation on the death of his son Ghar Singh.
“The appeal is of the year 2012. This case had an earlier round of litigation. This court reversed the judgment of Tribunal declining to grant relief to the appellant-claimant. After setting aside the judgment, this court remanded the case for fresh consideration”, Justice Sudhakar said after hearing the appellant in person.
“The Tribunal on remand granted a meager relief and hence the claimant was on appeal pleading for just compensation”, High Court said while directing the National Insurance Company to pay Rs 8,56,000 to the claimant.
