HC directs for considering security to former MLC

SRINAGAR, July 14: High Court today directed the security agency to consider the claim of the former MLC and member of Indian National Congress (INC) for providing him security in view of threat perception.
The petition was moved by the former Member of Legislative Counsel (MLC) and member of Indian National Congress (INC) Mohammad Muzafar Parray seeking security for protection of his life and restoration of vehicle earlier provided to him.
He submitted that while holding the office of MLC he was provided with ‘Z’ category security in the militancy affected areas and ‘Y’ category security in rest of areas of the J&K. However the same was withdrawn by the authorities along with the vehicle provided to him.
Petitioner submitted before the Court that despite repeated representation having been made by him to the authorities for providing security to him did not consider the same which compelled him to approach the court.
Having regard to the submissions made by the petitioner counsel, the court of Justice Rajnesh Oswal after hearing the matter through virtual mode directed the Additional Director General of Police (Security) and Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) to consider the claim of the petitioner-Parray with regard to the threat perception to him.
Court directed the officials that after considering the grievance of the petitioner, they shall pass appropriate order.
With regard to restoration of vehicle which was earlier provided to petitioner, Court directed the SSP Security to only decide the representation of petitioner-Parray made by him on April 30 in connection with the restoration of the Scorpio as per rules.
