Alleged tampering in check-sheet by PSC

JAMMU, Oct 22: In a petition alleging tampering in check-sheet by the Public Service Commission, State High Court has directed the Crime Branch to conduct investigation into the matter and register FIR if something fishy is noticed.
The petition has been filed by one Smiley Sharma mentioning that while evaluating her merit for the post of Assistant Professor in the discipline of Environmental Sciences in the Higher Education Department, her two publications published in the national and international journals were not taken into consideration and tampering was made.
After hearing Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj with Advocate Vasu Dubey for the petitioner whereas AAG FA Natnoo for the Public Service Commission, Justice Tashi Rabstan directed Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Jammu to investigate the matter thoroughly and also get the check-sheet of petitioner verified through Forensic Science Laboratory.
Justice Rabstan further directed PSC to make the record available without any delay as per the requisition of Crime Branch. “During investigation, if Crime Branch finds something fishy or tampering then the Crime Branch is at liberty to registered FIR against the person or persons involved in the scam so as to proceed against them under law howsoever big and influential they may be”, High Court said.
“If this court does not satisfy with the investigation of Crime Branch then it may opt to send the check-sheet of petitioner to a Forensic Science Laboratory outside the State of J&K and will take recourse accordingly”, Justice Rabstan said while directing that the investigation shall be completed positively within a period of one month from October 22, 2019.
