SRINAGAR, Sept 25: High Court today directed the Principal District Judge Anantnag and Superintendent of Police to issue show cause notice within 48 hours to 10 persons who have been found raising illegal constructions in Mevar village on the banks of the Lidder in Pahalgam.
A Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice D S Thakur directed the District Judge and SP to “coordinate efforts by issuing notices to all the 10 persons.”
The Bench directed that the matter being grave, needful should be done at the earliest “preferably within 48 hours.”
Directing both the officials to indicate in the notices why contempt of court not be initiated against the ten violators, the court asked them to file compliance report within a week with the Registrar Judicial.
The Bench also asked the amicus, Parvez Imroz, to suggest measures for maintaining the watwr bodies like Shehnag, Aru Nallah and the Lidder that merge into the river Jehlum at Seepan village by next hearing.
The court also directed the Chief Conservator Forests to submit the final demarcation boundary without further loss of time after the Bench examined the report on Pahalgam Master Plan pointing out the Forest Department has not submitted the demarcation boundary details.
