JAMMU, Dec 5: Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar came to the rescue of a disabled person.
The complainant, who got compassionate job, met with accident while traveling to join his duties on 03.08.1995 and became disabled. Thereafter, he was denied the compassionate appointment on the ground that the petitioner has become disabled and was unable to be a police constable.
The petitioner pursued the matter for any other alternate employment keeping in view his disability and he even submitted application to official respondents and Minister for Home. However, he failed to get employment.
Aggrieved over this, he knocked the doors of the High Court and Chief Justice has now directed DGP to provide alternate employment to the petitioner based on his qualification in the Police Housing Corporation in terms of the J&K Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1998.
“Necessary orders to this effect shall be issued within a period of six weeks”, Chief Justice said in the order.
