HC closes PIL on registration of labourers

Srinagar, May 12: High Court today directed a Non Government Organization (NGO) to approach the authorities with regard to relief for seeking Registration and Financial Assistance for families of daily wagers, Migrant workers and the unorganized sector workers.
Closing the Public Interest Litigation at the very threshold, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice V C Koul directed the NGO- National Campaign Committee for eradication of bonded labour to move to the authorities with a representation on this aspect.
The Advocate General submitted before the court that let the petitioner-NGO approach the authorities with representation and the same be considered with a stipulated time.
The petition was filed by the NGO through advocate Syed Musaib ed seeking compulsory registration and for ensuring that all employers and contractors employing interstate migrant workers grant wages, condition of service, displacement allowance, journey allowance and other facilities as provided under various laws for the benefit of interstate migrant workers.
