SRINAGAR, June 1: The High Court has cancelled the summer vacations commencing from June 8 including of its subordinate courts in summer zone of Jammu division.
Chief Justice Gita Mittal after having views from other Judges of High Court ordered cancellation of summer vacations commencing from June 8 for both wings of the High Court and subordinate courts across J&K UT and Ladakh.
“The ensuing summer vacations in the High Court commencing from June 8, 2020 are cancelled”, CJ ordered
As such, the order says, the summer vacation shown in the High Court calendar for the year 2020 shall be working days in High Court except the gazetted holidays.
Likewise the summer vacations in district and subordinate courts located in summer zone of Jammu division have also been cancelled.
The decision has been taken keeping in view of prevailing situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous lockdown which the CJ said has adversely affected the functioning of the High Court as well as district and subordinate courts in UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
CJ after considering the facts and hardships faced by the litigants said, it would be highly inappropriate and unjustified to proceed with the ensuing summer vacation.
Meanwhile, in view of the extension of the lockdown measures by the Government of India, the High Court has ordered that there shall be no access to all the court complexes in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh including High Court Complexes at Jammu and Srinagar till June 8, 2020.
