HC admits PIL on encroachment of 300 kanal land

JAMMU, Apr 20: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding encroachment of more than 300 kanals of State/Forest land at village Rehan in Basohli tehsil of Kathua district, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today issued post admission notice to the Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secreatry Forest, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, SSP Kathua, SDM and Tehsildar Basohli, Chief Conservator of Forest and DFO Billawar returnable within two weeks.
In the PIL filed by one Baldev Singh, it has been submitted that Govt land more than 300 kanals has been encroached. The petitioner has prayed for initiation of criminal proceedings against all those officers of State, Forest and Revenue Departments, who facilitated the encroachment.
