JAMMU, Apr 20: Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today expressed displeasure over slow pace of recovery of Sales Tax arrears from wines shops as well as Public Sector Undertakings, which are the defaulters, and issued directions to the official respondents.
The direction was passed in a Public Interest Litigation filed by Balvinder Singh and others regarding recovery of Sales Tax & VAT from all the defaulters.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Summit Nayyar appearing for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, DB granted four weeks time to State to a file a detailed report as to why the huge amount has not been recovered from the wines shops as well as Public Sector Undertakings.
