JAMMU, Mar 22: Harban Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) awarded scholarship worth Rs 11 lakh to 441 children from villages of Rehian, Arnia, Korjagir, Akalpur, Chakrohi, Jourian, Dansal and Birpur, today.
The chief guest Prof Ravi Gupta, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Central University) distributed the scholarships to various students at various students at the occasion interacted with many of them and impressed upon them to work hard take full benefit of the support being provided to them by the trust and achieve excellence in their education to carve out a bright future.
Speaking on the occasion, the managing trustree in his report said that the development of the nation is not possible, if large chunks of the population is illiterate. India cannot become great, unless and until all the people are educated and illiteracy is eradicated.
The best academic prizes were given to Sumiksha Thakur, Kavita Choudhary, Prachi Devi, Abikash Kumar, Shiva Bandral, Shahnaz, Roma Bharti, Shubam Nayak, Priyanka and Mannu Bala.
The function was followed by traditional preeti bhoj.
