JAMMU, Feb 4: Two persons, including a former Army man, were arrested today and huge quantity of bullet proof jackets, head-gears and ammunition of INSAS rifle seized from them.
On a tip-off, a joint operation was launched by police and a team of Military Intelligence in Narwal and Bari Brahamana areas here, reports said.
They arrested one ex-serviceman from Narwal and one civilian from Bari Brahamana. The arrested persons have been identified as Vijay Kumar, ex-serviceman of 24 Punjab Rifles and civilian Satpal Verma.
At least 17 bullet-proof jackets, 10 INSAS rifle magazine and 87 bullet proof patkas were seized from the two persons, who were working as scrap dealers.
Vijay Kumar disclosed to the police that he had purchased the items from Gourav Kabaadi of Pathankot.
Both the accused have been booked under Section 188 RPC at Trikuta Nagar and Bari Barahamana police stations respectively for further investigations.
Police parties in Narwal raid were led by SHO Trikuta Nagar Naveen Angral and Narwal Police Post Incharge SI Inayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO Mohammad Rafiq.
Major Surash Babu of 9 Corps Intelligence and Surveillance Unit Satwari developed information about the sale of items.
