JAMMU, Sept 9: Former minister Harsh Dev Singh was re-elected as chairman while former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia as president of the J&K National Panthers Party here today.
In a party convention held here today, both the leaders have been declared re-elected for the next term of three years.  A large number of party delegates participated in the convention.
Election process was completed by the Returning Officer, PK Ganju in presence of chief patron Prof Bhim Singh.
Harsh Dev Singh was declared re-elected by the returning officer, when the only rival Romesh Kumar Khajuria withdrew from the contest in favour of Singh.         Balwant Singh Mankotia was also declared re-elected by the returning officer, when his only rival Shankar Singh Chib, withdrew in favour of Mankotia as a token of solidarity.
Both chairman and the president were elected till March 23, 2020 as the elections for these posts were held late due to some unavoidable circumstances.
Ganju also declared that elections for the post of 18 Working Committee Member were also held, but the results shall be declared on September 10, 2017. Nominated members (18) shall also be announced on the same day.
Several senior party leaders addressed the Convention with a strong message that Panthers Party shall fight for reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir State. The leaders pleaded for the Confederation of J&K with establishments of Kashmir Ghati State, Jammu Pradesh. Ladakh region should be granted Union Territory status.
Among prominent leaders who addressed the convention included, Prof Bhim Singh, Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Mohd Iqbal Choudhary, Masood Andrabi, Farooq Dar, Rajesh Padgotra, Anita Thakur, Bansi Lal, Manju Singh and Ashfaq Rana.
