JAMMU, May 19: Lambasting the government for perpetuating the policy of bias against Jammu region even in times of Corona pandemic, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister made an earnest appeal to J&K Lt Governor to ensure parity between the two regions at least in respect of initiatives aimed at saving the precious lives from the deadly virus.
During a protest dharna in Jammu today against the bias perpetrated against Jammu, Singh regretted that Jammu region continued to be looked upon with a jaundiced eye even in such crucial times and despite suffering from a higher mortality rate.
Singh claimed highly biased and prejudicial treatment to Jammu region was evident from the number of Oxygen Generation Plants (OGPs), vaccine doses and funds as allocated between the two regions of the UT.
He said that recent reports indicate that as per the official factsheet, out of 46 OGPs in J&K in government sector, 34 were in Kashmir and merely 12 in Jammu.
Quoting media reports appearing in a section of the press Harsh said that 90,000 vaccine doses for 45 years and above age group reached Srinagar yesterday with a separate consignment of 1.17 lakh doses for 18-44 age group having already reached Srinagar the day before.
He said, it was Jammu region alone that was waiting for supply of adequate vaccine doses to meet the huge demand.
“Even in distribution of relief and allocation of other funds Jammu suffered discrimination,” he maintained.
