JAMMU, Apr 24: Chatha police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a hardcore criminal along with 15 grams heroin and Rs 75,800 cash.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chatha police post laid a naka near SKUAST-Jammu and intercepted a person coming from Miran Sahib towards Chatha, as he was trying to hide himself after seeing police party.
During checking, police recovered 15 grams heroin, Rs 75,800 cash, one laptop, 6 empty syringes, 3 lighters and 2 packs of polythene pouches from the bag being carried out by the person and arrested him.
The accused is a known drug peddler and is active in various areas of RS Pura and Jammu. Many criminal cases also stands registered against him with different police stations.
With the arrest of the accused, police achieved a major success to save the lives of youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 97/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Satwari and investigation started to ascertain the source of heroin and his other associates involved in drugs trafficking.
Police team led by SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and assisted by Satwari police station Inspector Manjeet Singh and Incharge Chatha police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
