JAMMU, Mar 13: Minister for Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan paid a surprise visit of Block Development Offices at Tikri and Udhampur and held an introductory meeting with district officers at Udhampur today.
While visiting Block Office Tikri, the Minister placed Assistant Executive Engineer of Rural Development Department, Krishan Gopal under suspension for remaining absent from duty and attached him with the Directorate of Rural Development Department, Jammu. He directed the Deputy Director Administration, RDD to conduct an enquiry and submit report within a week in this regard.
At Udhampur, the Minister interacted with the Self-Help Groups being benefitted by the RDD under UMEED scheme. He enquired about the benefits being provided to them under the scheme.
The Minister also held an introductory meeting with the district officers of Udhampur. Minister of State for Finance and Science Technology Pawan Kumar Gupta and MLA Chenani, Dina Nath and Ramnagar R S Pathania were present in the meeting. The District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal briefed the Minister about the functioning of various departments in the district.
While addressing the meeting, the Minister said that Government has placed a vibrant mechanism for monitoring the development initiatives under taken for the sustained and holistic development of the State. He said that the present Government is committed to provide transparent and accountable Governance to the people of the state.
The Minister enjoined upon the officers to work with utmost dedication and serve the people as per their expectations. “We are not here to harass the officers on one pretext or the other but the motive of the Government is to improve public service delivery system modern lines for which cooperation of the officers is necessary”, he maintained.
The Minister said that for ensuring transparency, accountability, abolishing red-tapism, eradicating corruption and rejuvenating service delivery system, a time bound procedure for effective functioning of the department has been devised. He instructed the officers to follow the system strictly and ensure that people do not suffer.
Director Rural Development Jammu G.N. Balwan accompanied the Minister during the tour.
Earlier, Mission Director, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Farooq Ahmad Peer briefed the Minister about the activities being carried out under UMEED in the State.
