4 held with heroin worth Rs 20 crore

JAMMU, Mar 13: Police arrested four persons along with 4 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market.
SSP Jammu Uttam Chand said that, on specific information, police team from Nowabad police station laid a naka at Paloura and intercepted a maruti van bearing Regd. No. JK02AB-2777.
During checking, police recovered four kilograms of heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market and Rs 5 lakh cash, he added.
SSP maintained that four persons were arrested on the spot, who have been identified as Ved Parkash alias Vedu, son of Gian Chand of Labdu Chak, Hiranagar, district Kathua, Jasvinder Kumar alias Sinda, son of Darshan Lal of Sanjay Nagar, Mohammad Farooq, son of Ghulam Hassan of Shahpur, district Poonch and Sandeep Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal of Hakal, Chatha, SSP added.
SSP further disclosed that police is ascertaining that the currency recovered is fake or genuine.
He further stated that a case under FIR number 44/15 under 8/21/60 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nowabad police station and investigation started.
