SRINAGAR, June 2: Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice, Abdul Haq today called for consolidating data in legal cases and directed the officers to fight today cases with facts and figures.
The Minister said this while addressing officers at a meeting which he chaired today to review the functioning of the Law Department.
Advocate General Jahangir Iqbal Ganaie, Secretary Law Abdul Majid Bhat, Special Secretary Law Achal Sethi besides Law Officers, Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
The Minister discussed various cases pending before different courts and directed the prosecutors to prepare monthly report which will be constantly monitored by the Government. He directed the Prosecuting Officers to properly monitor the investigation and trial of cases so that same are prosecuted in a proper manner.
He also discussed various cases pending before the department and asked the officers to expedite the process for their early disposal. He stressed on effective coordination among Law and other departments for the same.
The Minister also interacted with newly appointed Law Officers. He asked them to work with added zeal and dedication and instructed the Prosecutors to work hard to add up to their efficacy.
Abdul Haq also enquired about broader issues and problems of the officials and assured them that all genuine issues would be considered on priority and taken up with concerned quarters.
He assured the officers that all efforts will be taken to create a conducive atmosphere in the department so that they are able to work in a more comfortable and in an efficient manner.
He urged the Law Officers to remain abreast about latest details in their cases and explore possibilities under the legal jurisprudence to plead the cases before the courts effectively.
The Minister said that there was a greater need to bring the synergy between the Department of Law and other Government departments for disposing off the cases on time.
