KISHTWAR, Nov 14: Expressing grave concern over the bad condition of Sarthal Mata road, senior Congress leader and member Civil Society Kishtwar, Shamsher Singh Bhandari today demanded that the road be handed over to Border Roads Organization for its maintenance.
Bhandari said over 20 kms of road right from Hasti to Sarthal Devi is in total dilapidated condition with the result the pilgrims going to holy Mata for pilgrimage are facing many hardships to visit there.
Being a single lane road the vehicles carrying pilgrims and other passengers have to stop for long time to give side to another vehicle for passage. He demanded the double laning of the road.
Bhandari said the State PWD has totally failed to maintain the road and make it worth transportation despite being a link to a holy shrine where lakhs of people visit to pay obeisance every year from different parts of the State and outside.
