Hakla’s concern over plight of nomadic Gujjars

POONCH, Nov 8: Expressing serious concern over the plight of nomadic Gujjars and Bakerwals who are deprived of basic amenities by the authorities, Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader and intellectual of the State today urged the Government to provide all basic facilities to nomadic Gujjars and Bakerwals.
In a statement issued here, today he said that these hapless people are leading a miserable and hard life and being nationalists to the core Government should take effective steps in providing benefits of all welfare schemes to them launched from time to time.
Hakla said that these people are guarding the borders of the country in the State and have also played a remarkable roll in this regard right from partition of the country. He said that problems of these people however have compounded over the years as the successive Governments failed to take due care of them.
Hakla also appealed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to find an everlasting solution to the problems in Kashmir so that the people living on borders don’t get disturbed in future.
He also expressed concern over the loss of lives and properties of innocent people during the shelling from across the border both on IB and LoC and demanded that the people be paid due compensation for loss of property and crops.
