Srinagar, Dec 6: There has been less number of application forms submitted for the annual Hajj this year from Kashmir in comparison to previous year, an official said.
He said that this year they have received 12,500 application forms from the Valley, which is less from previous years. He attributed the decrease in the number of applications to various reasons.
“For last few months the situation was not normal here-that might be the reason, but if we talk about other States of the country, there also has been a dip in the submission of application forms for Hajj which has been recorded,” he said.
He said that in Kashmir the business activities were shut for more than three months. “This can also be the reason; plus there can be other factors as well,” he said.
Pertinently, this year, the Hajj application forms were submitted manually amid internet shutdown which is continues since August this year. It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities have been continuously extending the dates for the submission of the Hajj forms. Initially the dates were from November 10 to December 5, which has now been extended to December 17.
