Hail storm damages crops

Srinagar, Apr 3: Kashmir valley was lashed by rains while North Kashmir by hail storm damaging crops.
North Kashmir’s Janbaz Pora, Dangiwacha, Sheeri, Baramulla town, Rafiabad, Uri, Handwara, Chotipora Handwara, Kalamabad Handwara, Kulangam Handwara, Rajwara and Tangmarg areas were lashed by hail storm this afternoon. The hail storm led to heavy damage to Cherry, Apricot, Pears and Apple crop that is in flowering season these days.
The rains led to rise in water level in streams of North Kashmir. In Lagama area of Uri, the heavy rains led to a massive landslide blocking the Uri-Srinagar highway.
The Border Roads Organization (BRO) men and machinery were clearing the slide when reports last came in. The landside led to the closure of the road and large numbers of vehicles were stranded on the highway.
