SRINAGAR : With just a month left for the commencement of the 59-day-long annual pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, Governor N N Vohra will undertake an aerial inspection of the entire yatra track, still under several feet of snow, tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has reiterated that no unregistered yatra besides below the age of 13 years, or above the age of 75 years, and no woman with more than six weeks pregnancy will be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.
As many as 66 medical camps will be set up on shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam yatra routes by different agencies, including Army and paramilitary forces and state police during the pilgrimage, starting from July 2. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SASB P K Tripathi said Mr Vohra, who is chairman of the board, will conduct aerial recee of both tracks, subject to weather conditions.
He said later Governor will chair meetings at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps to review all important matters relating to the forthcoming yatra. The Governor has already held a number of meetings and reviewed arrangements being made for the yatra which included the registration of yatris; provision of heli services in the yatra area; grant of tent & shop permissions; arrangements for cleaning of Camps; track cleaning; garbage collection and disposal; provision of Insurance cover to the registered Yatris, Service Providers and ponies; grant of permission to NGOs for setting up of langars in the yatra area; appointment and deployment of camp directors; provision of telecom services in the yatra area; status of snow accumulation on the tracks; to-date track condition and the steps being taken to repair and clear them; installation of toilets and baths in the yatra camps and en route.
