Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervor by various institutions

JAMMU, Nov 24: Gurupurab—the 546th birth anniversary of 1st Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety by various educational institutions and social organizations.
NSS unit of Government College of Education, Jammu celebrated ‘Gurupurab’ in the college premise. Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Kaushal Smotra along with faculty members and students were present in the occasion. During the celebration, NSS volunteer, Jaspreet Singh along with other volunteers presented ‘Shabad’. Thereafter ‘langar’ was organized in which ‘prasad’ was distributed to all faculty members, students and society members.
In connection with birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a symposium on the topic ‘Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s contributions as Guru’ was organized in Sant Mela Singh College of Education, Digiana, Jammu. The programme started with recitation of Shabad by the students of the College. 16 students participated in the symposium, Chairman of the College, Prof Anmol Singh and Principal, Dr Kiran Luthra in their speech asked the students to follow the path shown by Guru Ji.
Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu organized a special assembly in the school premises to celebrate Gurupurab as well as Shahidi Divas of Guru Tej Bahadur Ji. The students spoke on the significance of Gurupurab and presented famous Shabad filling the whole atmosphere with peace and tranquility. Principal, Ruchi Chabra, highlighted the importance of the occasion and advised the students to follow the path shown by the saints.
JK Montessorie Senior Secondary School and its affiliated unit JK little Millennium International School celebrated Guru Nanak’s Birthday with great enthusiasm and zeal in the school premises. Students of primary classes organized a skit throwing light on life history of ‘Guru Nanak’- first Guru of Sikhs. Students also spoke about Guru Nanak Dev ji. ‘Shabad Kirtan and Paath’ was the main highlight of the event. MD of the School, Sanjeev Gupta, Director Academics, Rajni Gupta and Vice Principal, Geeta Dixit in their speech advised the students to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Patta Bohri, Jammu celebrated ‘Gurupurab’ with great pomp and show in the presence of MD, Parneesh Mahajan, Principal, Manikarnika Bhasin and others. A special assembly was held in which the teachers gave the demonstration to the students regarding the occasion. The students were dressed up in Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s costumes. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students.
On the auspicious occasion of 546th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua organized a programme which started with Jappji Sahib Path followed be Sukhmani Sahib Path. All the children, Chairman of the school, Principal and staff were present at that time. Children recited Shabad Kirtan. Halwa Parsad and sweets were distributed amongst the children and staff.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu also celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti in the school premises. A special assembly was organized on this occasion which started with Mool Mantra presented by students of pre primary wing. Students and teachers presented Holy Shabad and spoke about teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Rohini Aima, principal cum vice chairperson of the school, asked the students to follow the path of universal brotherhood and peace and make caring and sharing their motto in life.
Rich Harvest School, Shastri Nagar celebrated Gurupurab with religious fervor. A special assembly was conducted on the occasion where children came dressed as ‘Panj Pyaras’ and recited Shabads and Gurunanak Dev Ji’s sayings. Lastly, Kada Prasada was distributed among the children.
To celebrate Guruparb, the students of KPS Barnoti today participated in Kirtan Darbar at Gurudwara Sahib Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Kathua. Chairman, Kartar Educational Trust, Nirmaljit Singh and Charanjit Singh Bhola, president, DGPC Kathua, also accompanied the students. The students recited Mool Mantra in Gurudwara Sahib and threw light on the preaching of Guru Ji.
RM Public School celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students and teachers performed Shabad Kirtan during the occasion. At last, Prasad was distributed among the students by Trustee of the School, Rita Mengi and Principal, Ravinder Kour.
On the eve of Gurupurab, a cultural program was organized at Government Middle School, Bhagot Khana in which teachers and students participated. Students also presented folk songs, devotional songs and danced on Bhangra tunes. The teachers threw light on the significance of the day and stressed upon the students to follow the path of humanity.
Kidzee Pre-school celebrated ‘Gurupurab’ at its branches—- Anand Nagar (Bohri), Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo with great pomp and show. The function started with the special assembly in which the students were given demonstration regarding this festival. The small kids were dressed up in Guru Nanak Dev ji’s costumes. In the end, facilitators wished ‘Happy Gurupurab’ to all the kids and sweets were distributed among them.
The 546th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was also celebrated in Madhuvan Kids Play way School. The event included Kirtan followed by Shabad. Clad in traditional dresses, students sang hymns and also spoke on Guru Naka Dev Ji. Later, Principal, Amrit Choudhary, distributed Prasad and sweets among the students.
Euro Care celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti with religious fervor. A special assembly was organized in which students were apprised about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The highlight of the day was the kids’ visit to Gurudwara at Trikuta Nagar, where students sought blessings of Guru Ji and offered prayers.
“The – Sara”, a registered NGO working on crisis support and suicide prevention, today on the eve of Gurupurab handed over a lot of medicines to Dr Deedar Singh, Medical Officer, Guru Nanak Mission Hospital, Guru Nanak Nagar, Jammu. The medicines including anti-biotics, pain killers, etc which will be utilized for the treatment of poor patients in Guru Nanak Mission Hospital.
Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is also being celebrated for last fifteen days at Gurudwara, Guru Tej Bahadur Nagar, Omara Morh, Udhampur and on daily basis ‘Prabhatferi’ is being taken out in which young old and children are participating with great enthusiasm. Besides, local populace, Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, 137 CRPF Battalion and Army is also participating in the celebrations.
