UDHAMPUR, Mar 14: Up in arms against removal of a sign board displaying the name of Guru Ravidass Chowk, a protest demonstration was organized by Guru Ravidass Sabha Udhampur at MH Chowk.
Demonstrators blocked road from all three sides and burnt tyres at the center of the Chowk amidst raising slogans against Municipal Council Udhampur.
A spokes person of Guru Ravidass Sabha said that this Chowk is also known as Guru Ravidass Chowk from decades because Guru Ravidass temple is situated just at the centre of this MH Chowk. He alleged that authorities of Municipal Council Udhampur, by order of Chief Executive Officer, today removed a sign board indicating Guru Ravidass Chowk without the consultation of the executive committee of Guru Ravidass Sabha Udhampur.
Conveying the resentment against alleged dictatorial attitude of Chief Executive Officer of Municipal Council Udhampur, he said that the authorities did not take the community and devotees of the Sadguru Ravidass Maharaj into confidence.
The protesting people warned aggressive protests if the Administration does not re- install the sing board of Guru Ravidass Chowk.
