Guru Hargobind Sahib 4th Hockey C’ship commences

SRINAGAR, June 19: Baramulla witnessed a vibrant start to the Guru Hargobind Sahib 4th Hockey Championship at Showket Ali Stadium, organized by General Bikram Club under the banner of Hockey J&K. The tournament honours the legacy of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib and promotes hockey in the Kashmir region.
The opening match saw a thrilling contest between Jagjit Club Upliana and Ajit Club Baramulla, with Jagjit Club securing a 5-4 win. Key goals came from Ramandeep Singh (54′) and Tanishpal Singh (59′).
Chief Guest Dr. Harvinder Singh, along with dignitaries from Hockey J&K, graced the occasion. Referees Indpal Singh, Sukmeetpal Singh and Sunny Singh officiated the match. Featuring 16 teams from across Kashmir, the championship will follow a round-robin format leading into knockout stages. The event celebrates sport, community spirit, and the enduring teachings of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib.
