Guru Gyagi Ji A beacon of love and service

Guru Giyagi ji born in our society’s very humble family in the wee hours of 06/02/1884 in the village smail pur Tehsil and District Jammu and a new born child’s parents were–late Sh.Kakka Ram and his mother Late Smt. Rukko Devi. At the time of birth of male child his mother was stunned on seeing a beaming God sent light which illuminated the entire room and she faded away for some time. On attaining the school going age Child’s Parents many times sent their child to school for formal education but he every time bunked the school as he was inclined to remain away from crowd and followed spiritual way of leading life.Parents many times administered physical punishment to the child for bunking the school and also forced the strictness but parents could not succeed and finally allowed the child to decide his future course of life.From very childhood he remained in the pursuit of divinity and as the time passed he grew up and left the home with a group of Sadhus who were returning from Amarnath Shrine and travelled with them to many religious places like Banaras, Brindavan and Ujjain .The references from a few of his initial followers Namely Krishan Lal Resident of village Jinder Maleon,Thoru Ram of Sahzad Pur Kothi,Juma Ram and Phiro Ram of village Smail Pur, Tara Chand of village Sarora,Manga Ram and Samma Ram of village Deoli, Chuni Ram of village Mamood Pur and Bulla Ram of village Ghou Manahasan revealed That Young Giyagi ji also visited Boudh Gaya presently in Bihar and Nanakana Saheb ji now in Pakistan and thus remained on spiritual Sojourn for nine years of his youthful days in search of Divine knowledge.After long nine years of his hard Hermitage, he came back and set up himself at the place known as kothi shahzad pur in Jammu tehsil for penance (Tapasya) and thus lead his whole life as a Sage.He in his youthful days always travelled to households of Batwal community and preached the importance of social connectivity of Batwals in particular and other communities of society in general. With the passage of time his followers number swelled from hundreds to thousands and now in lakhs and some of them are still leading their old age life and they do come at the permanent seat of Guru Giyagi ji in village kothi shahzad pur and get blessings for themselves and for the Batwal community.In furthering social unity of Batwal community with the blend of spirituality he started organising an annual gatherings of Batwals at his life time permanent place for pursuit of divinity,eternity and enlightenment and the main purpose of annual gatherings was to aware his people about the very dangers of social evils and illiteracy prevalent in large scale in his samaj . He preached and sermoned among his followers and Batwals to set and practise the high standard human values, virtuous and ethics and lead the empirical and scientific path of life which helps in ameliorating miseries of human beings. Guru ji also stressed in his teachings to the society to break the caste barriers for ensuring strong brotherhood bonds .Though he had not got any formal academic education but he was very enlightened about the importance of education which helps the men, women and children to understand the true meaning of life.
On the eve of annual gatherings the large number of his followers used to gather and with the advice of Guru Giyagi ji on the very next day his followers and the villagers around kothi shahzad pur used to arrange an annual Guru ka langer for both devotees and general public. Guru Giyagi Ji’s immortal soul left for abode in the heaven for good on 25/02/1977. Guru Giyagi Ji’s sacred body was laid to rest at Kothi shahzad pur at the place of his attainment of enlightenment and at this very place his Samadhi was constructed for seeking blessings by his followers and Batwal community generations to come .
The later on 28/02/1977 the Batwal community spanning all over india and abroad gathered at his Samadhi and resolved and bowed down in front of Samadhi with the pledge to accept and worship GIYAGI JI as Batwal community’s “KAOMI”GURU.The Batwal community henceforth was duty bound to follow Guru Giyagi Ji’s teachings on subjects like spiritual , social and educational and take every possible step to spread the message of brotherhood in the Batwal community taught by the Guru Giyagi ji in his life time preachings.The Batwal community also took the pledge to organise the annual Langer for the gatherings on his scared birthday i,e,. 6th February every year alongwith other rituals connected with the pious occasion. On this 6th February 2025 ,Guru Giyagi Ji’s 141st birth anniversary is also being celebrated by vast population of community at his seat of enlightenment and every body is requested to come and have the blessings of GURU GIYAGI JI”.
